Why This City

Our Divine Assignment: Why Polokwane

Our call to plant Valley of Blessings SA is not a random choice; it is a targeted response to a spiritual and practical need in the heart of Limpopo. Polokwane is more than a location on a map; it is our God-given mission

A City of Growth and Gateway Potential

Polokwane is not just the capital of Limpopo; it is a bustling economic and administrative hub experiencing rapid growth. With a population of over 700,000 people, it is a city of young families, ambitious professionals, and students attending the University of Limpopo, Tshwane University of Technology and VET College. This growth, however, often brings with it the common struggles of modern life: isolation, economic pressure, and a search for identity and purpose. Polokwane is a gateway city, influencing the entire province. A thriving church here creates a ripple effect of hope throughout the region.

The Hunger for authentic community

Having lived and worked here for years, we have seen firsthand the hunger for a church that offers more than just a weekly service. People are searching for a genuine community—a spiritual family to walk with them through life’s valleys and celebrate with them on the mountain tops. They need a place where faith is practical, relevant, and life-giving.

A City in Need of Tangible Blessing

The name “Valley of Blessing” is a prophetic declaration over this city. Our vision for a church that eventually includes a school, shopping complex, and gym is a direct response to the need for holistic transformation—spirit, soul, and body. We are called to build a church that not only preaches the blessings of God but also becomes a tangible source of blessing to the community.

Polokwane’s population is a vibrant tapestry of potential waiting to be reached:

Polokwane: A City of Potential (Population: ~700,000)
“Young Professionals & Families” : 350000
“Students & Youth” : 175000
“Children & Toddlers” : 140000
“Senior Citizens” : 35000

Reaching Every Corner

Polokwane is made up of over 20 major suburbs and townships, each with its own unique character and needs. From the bustling streets of Seshego and the vibrant community of Mankweng, to the growing suburbs of Flora Park and Ivy Park, our mission is to plant a church that draws people from every corner of the city into a unified family.

Some of the key feeding areas include:
Seshego, Mankweng, Nirvana, Flora Park, Ivy Park, Penina Park, Bendor, Westernburg, Fauna Park, Molepo, and more.

This is why Polokwane is so important. It is a city of immense potential, filled with people God loves deeply. He has given us a vision to build a church for them—a place of hope, family, and undeniable blessing.

We are called to turn Polokwane into a true Valley of Blessing.
